Welcome to Mrs. J Tucker's 5th grade Science/Math class...
My name is Janice Tucker. I have been teaching for 27years. I have my master's plus 30 in elementary education with a minor in computer science. I have my endorsement in the teaching of gifted and talented students from Converse College. I have taught 2nd - 8th grade in Greenville and Spartanburg County schools. I have been teaching science for the past 19 years. This will be my tenth year at Beech Springs and I love it. Recently I have been working with ESOL students and have my certification in Second languages.
I grew up in Greenville and graduated from Riverside High School. I then attended Anderson College and University of South Carolina at Spartanburg. Later I attended Furman University and Converse College. I finished my master’s program at Converse College. I am a National Board Certified Teacher and received the Presidential award for Math and Science.
I am married to a wonderful man, Joey. We have been married for 29 years. We have one daughter, two cats, and one dog. Waverly is 24 years old and graduated from Clemson University in December 2014. She was recently married to Thomas Wilkes. I now raise chickens and have a frog pond , that my turtles share. I just got a German Shepard who is a hand full. Our favorite hobby is fishing. I often leave school and fish. Shhh.... don't tell anyone. As you can see I love animals and that is much of why I enjoy teaching science.
